TCA Cross

TCA CROSS for Acne Scars in Seoul, Korea

Target Deep Acne Scars with Precision. Rebuild Your Skin Naturally.

At YANN Clinic, we offer TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars), an advanced and highly effective treatment specifically designed for deep, pitted acne scars. Using high-concentration trichloroacetic acid (TCA), this treatment triggers collagen regeneration from within the scar, helping to lift and smooth the skin over time.

What Is TCA CROSS?

TCA CROSS stands for Trichloroacetic Acid – Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars. This technique involves the careful application of high-strength TCA directly into each scar, particularly ice pick scars and boxcar scars, which are often resistant to topical products and lasers alone.

TCA penetrates the deepest part of the scar, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and encouraging collagen production to fill in the damaged area gradually.

TCA CROSS Is Ideal For:

✔️ Ice pick scars (deep, narrow indentations)
✔️ Boxcar scars (broad, shallow depressions)
✔️ Dilated pores and pitted acne scars
✔️ Areas resistant to laser or microneedling treatments

How the Procedure Works

Each treatment session involves:

  1. Skin Preparation
    The area is cleansed thoroughly.
  2. TCA Application
A small amount of high-concentration TCA is precisely applied to each scar using a fine applicator.
  3. Skin Response
  • Frosting: Treated areas turn white briefly as the acid interacts with proteins in the skin (lasting ~30 minutes).
  • Redness: After frosting fades, the treated skin turns red.
  • Scabbing: A scab forms within 1–2 days, lasting about 3–7 days.
  • Healing: Once the scab detaches naturally, redness may remain for several weeks as new skin forms.

Aftercare Instructions

  • Cleanse with a gentle lotion (e.g., Cetaphil) twice daily.
  • Keep scabs moisturized 4 times daily with Vaseline or Aquaphor.
  • Do not pick the scabs—let them separate naturally.
  • You may apply makeup starting day 3 post-treatment.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks before and 2 months after treatment. Use broad-spectrum SPF daily.
  • In some cases, skin-lightening products may be recommended to manage post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

How Many Sessions Are Needed?

Most patients require 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on the severity of the scars and the skin’s healing response. Noticeable improvement often begins after the second or third session.

Is TCA CROSS Safe for All Skin Types?

Yes. TCA CROSS has been shown to be safe and effective for a wide range of skin types, including Asian and melanin-rich skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–V). Our specialists will assess your skin and tailor the treatment accordingly.
